Seriously... I NEED TO LEARN TO SAY NO!!!!!!! but anywho... the reason for this thread was to say yay about some of my pics in the fair! we are only allowed to enter 4 pics because there are so many entries, but this year it didnt seem like a lot compared to years before... so maybe thats why I got things! My Eyes pic for third place in the Close-Up division http://www.betterphoto.com/gallery/big.asp?photoID=5883202&catID=&style=&rowNumber=15&memberID=138506 My butterfly pic got an Honorable mention in the Close-Up divison... which I have to vent about!!! the first place winner in that division had a pic of a butterfly looking down at it on some flowers... NOT that close at all... technically it wasnt that great, comp was OK, no DOF, and it was just... a butterfly pic!... then heres Mine!.... http://www.betterphoto.com/gallery/big.asp?photoID=5738765&catID=&style=&rowNumber=18&memberID=138506 WHAT THE HELL!!! hahaha ok, so I KNOW Im not the best at ALL! BUT... Oh my word!!!! I really wanna ask the judge WHY!... I guess shes the photoshop teacher up at our commmunity college... I dont know... I was frustrated! then my "Goin' Home" pic got an Honorable mention in the Portrait/color division... http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b309/kikals/Copy5ofDSC_1902.jpg My "saved by Grace" baby pic didnt get nothing... and AGAIN!!!! the winner was a snapshot of a lil girl by a horse!!!!!!!!!!!! GAH!!!!!! hahahaha I guess I shouldnt feel so bad then about not getting anything higher, but man almighty! Kika - do you suppose they thought you were a pro and hence gave the wins to just an average Joe off the street? I know I've wondered sometimes with my stuff at the state fair when I look at the ones that have placed ahead of me. Who knows what the judges were thinking or looking for .. Your work is great and don't that sway you or mess up your self confidence. And you needed one more job ( supervising the barn) like you needed a hole in the head...LOL If I had half your energy and stamina I'd be ever so happy!

I know, I wont let this drop my confidence any... I was just like... why?? hehe but I am happy that I got SOMETHING! Oh!! and my photography class I did! all my kids matted their fav pic of the week and I turned them into the fair for them, and the ALL got a ribbon! most got a participation ribbon, which everyone doesnt get, I think 2 got honorable mentions, one got a first place... and one got BEST IN SHOW in the Junior department!!! I was SO proud of them!!!

Its so neat to see that age group being proud of something they accomplished! and to be part of that is the reason I Love working with kids in middle school, cuz its so akward and hard at that age and to help them be proud of what they did is amazing!
