As a prelude to Friday's assignment, I am sure some of you may be aware that Bokeh will be the subject and has already been discussed in another thread. So brush up on your bokeh info for this Friday. You can also ask Chris it "tips and tricks" if you like to give you some pointers or direct your path. Also do a search engine at Google for images and the web, for info on the subject. Just a heads up for Friday the 23rd, so everyone is aware and knows the theme. AND every camera can do the assignments I give you, be it a dslr or a point and shoot. Just so you know. If there is ever a challenge where I feel a point and shoot can't do it, I will assign one for each type of camera.

Have a nice week in the meantime, and thank you guys for entering these challenges! I appreciate your support, and I hope it is helpful to you.

OH, and don't forget to VOTE on the POLLS!! Everyone can vote. It does not have to be just a person who entered!! :)

Rose

Hi miss Rose

As you know, I started the thread on Bokeh. I took at least 300 shots for DPC and never did get what I was shooting for :grumpy: . Is it due to user error or is it the limitations of my camera? I tried everything from f2 to f8 and just couldn't get it :grumpy:

Please help!! I am using a Sony Cybershot dsc-70.

Adamaske- I don't know if this will help or not...but when I was using my Fuji Finepix s7000 and wanted my background to blur pretty I would hit the macro setting. My Fuji wasn't a dslr but wasn't a point and shoot really either. It had limited manual capabilities...is your camera kind of like that? Or is it a dslr? Anyway...try a coupld like that on auto settings but hit the macro button.

Sorry for the late reply.

Ok, so surely, Adam, your camera can get shallow dof shots where the subject is clear and the background is not? If so, just take a shot where the background is pleasing to the subject. It is really that simple. However, if you can do it through a mist of rain, or even a sprinkler in the background, you can have the circles of light that really add to the interest of the shot. But as long as the background and the subject go hand in hand, are pleasing to one another, and the focal point is in focus, you have done bokeh.

If you have a gallery, direct me to it, and I will check them out and tell you which ones were bokeh. Then you can check the settings from the exif and use those same settings again.

Is it an S70 or a W70 ? Or ?

Anyway, I recommend using Aperture Priority mode and set to F2.0.

Thanks for all the help guys!! I guess I was really hoping for the circles of light. I will try some of your ideas.

Miss Rose, here's my SOA gallery....I don't think you will find much bokeh, except for the one I posted on 06/16:

Umm...maybe I'm a little slow today. What does the "circles of light" thing mean?

Thx!
