For this week our assignment is not one that pertains to technical issues as the first two have. This one is more about creativity and learning to see the world around you better. It's an excercise that will enable you to become more observant of the things in your everyday life. The theme for this week is reflections. Take a look around you and see all the things that have reflective qualities. You may not have noticed it before, but there are all sorts of things that reflect light. Obviously mirrors, but also things like water, windows, silverware, fixtures, Compact discs, and even chrome toasters as seen here: http://www.pbase.com/dreamndigital/toast Reflective objects can make for very interesting photos, and for this week I want you to take a look and see how many things in your everyday life are reflective and choose one to make a photograph of. Now don't just go for the obvious and take a self portrait in front of the mirror. You may run into some difficulty because sometimes reflections can be difficult for your light meter to understand. So do a lot of bracketing. Also try to look for interesting subject matter. Hopefully this excercise will stumulate your mind as well as your creativity. Good luck! I'll be looking forward to seeing what everyone comes up with. If you have any difficulties or troubles just let me know. |
